Responsibilities
- Perform and report analytical tests under supervision, ensuring quality control compliance.
- Support specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record keeping.
- Maintain turnaround times, including for STAT or critical results.
- Manage reagent/test kit dates and expiration.
- Conduct and document quality control analyses, make QC decisions.
- Report problems and deviations, cooperate with investigations.
- Review and enter test results into Laboratory Information System.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary laboratory environment.
- Complete training and competency assessments.
- Follow all safety and regulatory requirements (CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA).
- Use PPE and safety controls as directed.
- Assist clients and lab personnel with inquiries.
- Participate in inspections and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required: Prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433 (March 14, 1990).
Preferred: 1-3 years of clinical experience.
Physical & Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds with assistance if necessary.
- Stand and work at the bench for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity for laboratory instruments.
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic knowledge of clinical testing procedures.
- Understanding of organizational policies.
- Attention to detail, independence, multitasking, and effective communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Systems.
Education & Certifications
Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
ASCP Certification required.
