Job summary

St. Luke's Health - Patients Medical Center seeks a Medical Lab Scientist to perform complex laboratory tests across hematology, chemistry, and microbiology disciplines, ensuring accurate, timely results for patient care.

You will operate and maintain instruments, analyze specimens, perform QC, and provide data for clinical decisions, while leading a small team and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Of Science in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA. and 2 years experience in a clinical laboratory., upon hire
• Strong scientific foundation, advanced technical proficiency, exceptional problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens adhering to SOPs to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Provides excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, rapid notification of critical values, and testing within established turn-around times.
• Acts as a ‘group leader’ assisting other staff to ensure smooth workflow in the department.
• Maintains major automated equipment, calibration, troubleshooting, and vendor contact for repairs; may train new staff and students in the department.
• Performs proficiency testing and reviews results with laboratory clinical leaders.
• Assists with test or equipment validations and with training/validation records and documentation.
• Participates in continuing education and teaching to enhance technical skills of staff and students.
• Responsible for inventory of supplies and assisting with ordering and storage.
