Job summary

ProMedica is seeking a Laboratory professional to perform routine and complex analytical procedures in a hospital setting. The role includes specimen processing, instrument operation, quality control, and data entry, with emphasis on accuracy and patient confidentiality.

The candidate will support training and competency assessment for new staff, maintain equipment, and collaborate with the health care team across shifts, including night hours. A relevant lab science degree is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology, or equivalent combination.
• Alternate qualification route for High Complexity Testing may apply as per regulations.
• Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved by ABHES/CAHEA or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex analytical procedures and interprets results.
• Operates instruments and performs procedures within scope of training.
• Maintains quality control records and investigates out-of-control results.
• Process and prepare biological specimens for analysis.
• Liaises with health care team while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Performs routine data entry and uses laboratory computer systems.
• Instructs and assesses competency of new staff and students.
• Assists in maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.

It should not be considered exhaustive.REQUIREMENTSDoctoral, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution or transcripts showing 60 semester hours from an accredited institution indicating 24 semester hours of medical technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours in chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical technology in any combination OR meet an alternate qualification route for Testing Personnel for High Complexity Testing as detailed in §493.1489 .Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS OR meet an alternate experience route for High Complexity Testing Personnel as detailed in §493.1489.ProMedica is a mission-driven, not-for-profit health care organization headquartered in Toledo, Ohio.
