Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in Tampa, FL, Monday to Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, requiring an active Florida Clinical Personnel license prior to first day. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates, and relocation assistance will be considered.

Pay starts at $30.00+ per hour with potential shift differentials of 10% for some second shifts and 15% for some third shifts.

Qualifications

• One year clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
• BS in Medical Technology or related degrees preferred.
• MLS/Medical Laboratory Scientist qualifications mentioned.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records showing proficiency testing samples are tested like patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.

Pay range: $30.00+ per hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended.

Job Responsibilities:

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor

Qualifications:

Education:

BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493

Work Experience:

1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
