Quest Diagnostics in Tampa, FL is hiring Medical Laboratory Scientist I for a Tue–Sat, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM shift. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered for eligible external candidates and relocation assistance may be considered.

You will perform specimen handling, analysis, and release of test results while following CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA guidelines and company policies. Requires a BS in Medical Technology or related field; one year of high‑complexity clinical experience preferred; opportunities for

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493
• 1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, analyses, reporting and maintaining patient test records.
• Maintain records showing proficiency testing samples are tested like patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
• Adhere to lab policies when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance and notify supervisor.

Medical Laboratory Scientist I - Tampa, FL, Tuesday to Saturday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM

$10,000 sign on bonus for eligible external candidate

Relocation assistance will be considered

Pay range: $30.00+ per hour;

employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493

Work Experience

1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
