Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in Saint Paul, MN. Weekdays 8am–4:30pm with every 4th Saturday 8am–Noon. Candidates will perform high‑complexity testing, follow CLIA/HIPAA/OSHA guidelines and ensure accurate patient results.

The role emphasizes adherence to procedures, recording results, and maintaining proficiency testing. A BS in Medical Technology or related field is preferred, with MLS credentials as a plus. Fortune 500 company with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• MLS credential or equivalent certified lab scientist required/preferred.
• Experience with high complexity testing is preferred.
• Follows approved testing procedures and maintains records.

Responsibilities

• Follow procedures for specimen handling and processing, testing, reporting and record keeping.
• Maintain proficiency testing samples and ensure testing aligns with patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures and review results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and safety guidelines as described.
• Identify and report problems affecting test performance or results.
• Escalate issues to senior technologist or supervisor as needed.

Pay range: $26.48 - $43.70 / hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493

Work Experience

1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
