Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in Presque Isle, ME, with on-call Friday–Monday 6:00am-2:30pm and weekend variation. This hospital-based role supports the General Lab and offers a broad benefits program through a Fortune 500 company.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred.
• BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology or an Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.

Responsibilities

• Follow procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining patient results.
• Maintain records showing proficiency testing samples are tested like patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and safety guidelines.
• Follow established policies when test systems are out of range.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and escalate when needed.

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in Presque Isle, ME. This role is a hospital-based position at Northern Lights Hospital.

Pay range: Minimum of $29.24+ per hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.

Qualifications

Education:

• BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493

Work Experience:

• 1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
• MLS, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Lab Scientist, Med Tech, Medical Technologist, CLS, Clinical Lab Scientist
