Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in Irving, TX, Tue–Sat, 2:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The role offers a path from entry level to experienced with comprehensive benefits and training.

Compensation includes a pay range of $29.50+ per hour with potential 10% second-shift and 15% third-shift differentials. Applicants may be eligible for annual performance bonuses and a robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or an Associates in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or previously qualified under 42 CFR 493.

Responsibilities

• Follow procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing, reporting and record keeping.
• Maintain proficiency testing records to mirror patient specimen testing.
• Analyze specimens using approved procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and safety guidelines.
• Identify and report problems affecting test performance or results.

Pay range: $29.50+ per hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended.

Job Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.


• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.


• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.


• Review and release test results.


• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.


• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.


• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.

Education and Qualifications

BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493

Work Experience

1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
