Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Indianapolis, IN. Schedule: Mon–Fri, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM, with rotating weekends. Salary varies by qualifications and experience; pay starts at $24.52+ per hour with possible shift differentials and annual bonus potential.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; or Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records that show proficiency testing samples are tested as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
• Follow established policies when test systems are out of tolerance.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and notify supervisor.

Medical Laboratory Scientist

Location: Indianapolis, IN. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with rotational weekends. This position can be adjusted to hire all levels of MLT and MLS. Salary may vary based on qualifications and experience.

Pay range: $24.52+ per hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.

Education

BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493

Work Experience

1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
