Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Corry, PA is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for night shifts (6:00PM–6:00AM) on a 3/12-hour rotation. The role involves specimen handling, test analyses, and reporting under CLIA/HIPAA/OSHA rules.

A BS in Medical Technology or related field is preferred, with related lab experience welcome; education options include BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology or an Associates in Laboratory Science.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred or related degree.
• Associates degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology acceptable.
• Previously qualified as Technologist under 42 CFR 493 is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, testing, reporting and record-keeping.
• Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested like patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and safety guidelines.
• Follow policies when test systems deviate from performance standards.
• Identify and report problems affecting test performance or results.

Education

BS in Medical Technology or related degrees including BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology or Associates in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology or previously qualified as Technologist under 42 CFR 493

Medical Laboratory Scientist I - Corry, PA, 3 / 12 hour shifts (Monday & Tuesday every week with every other Saturday & Sunday)

Pay Range

Minimum of $23.93+ per hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.

Education

BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493

Work Experience

1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
