Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for Bangor, ME, a hospital-based role at Northern Lights Hospital. Schedule is 10-hour shifts, with rotation on weekends, holidays and on-call duties. Salary range is $29.24–$32.49 per hour with bonus potential and comprehensive benefits.

Emphasis on accuracy, compliance and teamwork. Qualifications include a BS in Medical Technology or related field and 1 year of clinical experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred or related science degree.
• 1 year of clinical experience in high complexity testing preferred.
• MLS/CLS credentials or equivalent are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
• Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Follow the laboratory's policies when test systems are not within established performance ranges.
• Identify problems affecting test performance or reporting and escalate to senior staff.

Monday to Friday, hours vary between 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (10 hour shift, 40 hours per week), with rotational weekends, holidays, and On-Call.

Department: Management Labs Admin (Day shift position in Hematology, with potential rotation into Chemistry).

Responsibilities:

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education:

BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493

Work Experience:

1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
