UPMC Washington is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join a team of experienced laboratory professionals. The selected applicant will be hired into either job title based on qualifications, with potential placement on the Lab Career Ladder depending on experience and education.

Competenze

• MLS: B.S. in science AND CAHEA MLS program OR B.S. in science with MLS certification OR B.S. in lab science with 2+ years in clinical lab.
• MLT: A.S. in lab science with certification OR B.S. in lab science with 6 months of clinical lab experience.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and LIS.

• Interact with laboratory customers courteously and professionally; respond to inquiries.
• Adhere to laboratory, hospital policies on procedures, quality control, safety, and compliance.
• Follow procedures for specimen collection and processing for analysis.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures accurately and timely.
• Recognize critical and abnormal results and act per protocol.
• Identify factors affecting results and take corrective action.
• Maintain knowledge of techniques, instruments, and conditions affecting tests.
• Conduct or assist with test development and equipment evaluation.
• Perform High Complexity Testing without direct supervision.
• Provide first-line supervision of the section/department as delegated.
