Medical Laboratory Scientist Full Time Days Position

Position Summary:

Medical Technologists perform various tests to analyze blood, body fluids, and tissues as ordered by healthcare personnel. Under the supervision of departmental section supervisors, they accurately perform and evaluate technical procedures in the clinical laboratory. Responsibilities include receiving, processing, and distributing specimens promptly, properly storing specimens for further testing, assisting with training new employees and students, maintaining equipment and supply inventory, and adhering to laboratory and hospital policies such as attendance, continuing education, dress code, infection control, and patient confidentiality. They also ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and participate in processes related to agencies like the Joint Commission, CAP, and AABB, following best practices for infection control.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. Education: Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, with professional training. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Experience: 1 to 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  3. Certifications/Licenses: ASCP-MLT or equivalent, or current state licensure. Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience can substitute for licensure. BLS certification is required.
