Job summary

Henry Ford Macomb Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join a fast-paced, community-focused laboratory that rotates MLS through all departments to maintain competency and collaboration with ER and outpatient teams.

Under general supervision, you will perform routine and complex analytic procedures on blood and other body fluids using manual techniques or instrumentation, with emphasis on accuracy, quality control, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
• Six months of experience in a medical laboratory setting.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge sufficient to perform laboratory functions is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex biological, chemical, cytological, hematological, histologic, immunological, microscopic, and/or bacteriological tests procedures on laboratory specimens, using manual or automated techniques and information systems.
• Evaluates instrument performance and quality control results to ensure accuracy and reliability of analytic data.
• Correlates results with other lab data and/or disease states.
• Performs calibration, preventive maintenance, quality control, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and laboratory information systems.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information and adheres to safety and infection control procedures.
