Job summary

Avera Sacred Heart Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform a range of clinical laboratory tests and support day-to-day laboratory operations. The role requires an MLA/MLT credential, an associate degree or technical certificate, and the ability to work rotating shifts in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include quality control, instrument calibration, result reporting, and collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure accurate diagnostic information.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or technical certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology required.
• Licensure/certification: MLT- AMT (within 1 year) or MLT- ASCP (within 1 year).
• Ability to work rotating shifts and maintain accuracy under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of clinical laboratory tests and procedures.
• Maintain quality control and assurance processes.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and reagents.
• Communicate results accurately to healthcare teams and document findings.
• Assist with pre-analytical specimen handling and specimen storage guidelines.
• Support CQI activities and participate in training/education as needed.
