Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and MLS(ASCP) certification required.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Clinical training in neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult testing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate testing of specimens per established laboratory protocol.
  • Report test results in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain quality control and comply with CAP/JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
  • Perform instrument maintenance and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Assist with phlebotomy and training of students or new staff as needed.
  • Float to other laboratory sites as workload requires.

The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Provides direction and guidance for questions and or problems referred by an MLT concerning specimen acceptability, unusual or discrepant results and instrument or method problemsPerforms accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and proceduresReports test results in a timely manner and according to established laboratory protocol and proceduresFollows established procedures for laboratory quality control.
