Join us at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. This role involves performing routine and complex laboratory analyses, requiring a solid understanding of laboratory techniques, principles, and equipment. The position demands critical thinking, issue resolution skills, and the ability to ensure specimens are processed efficiently to deliver accurate results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment and collaborate effectively with the patient care team.
• Teach and mentor students and new staff as assigned.
• Participate in laboratory and organizational initiatives.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative tests using analyzers and manual methods.
• Organize workload, prioritize tasks, and meet turnaround times.
• Maintain quality control, calibrate instruments, and perform maintenance.
• Utilize resources efficiently and manage inventory.
• Seek continual learning opportunities and review SOPs for improvements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• One year of hospital laboratory experience preferred; experience as a generalist in a high-volume hospital lab is strongly preferred.
• Certification eligibility upon hire; must obtain certification within 18 months (e.g., ASCP, AMT, NCA).

Skills and Abilities:

• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and attention to detail.
• Independent judgment and discretion.
• Basic computer skills, including LIS and Office software.

Additional Requirements:

• On-call availability during emergencies.
