Baptist Health in Lexington, KY is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for first shift. This full-time position offers state-of-the-art technology, a collaborative team, and a $15,000 sign-on bonus for qualified individuals.

You will maintain technical competency, perform LIS downtime procedures, evaluate tests, ensure specimen quality, and troubleshoot with colleagues. A Bachelor’s degree and certification eligibility within one year are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science is required.
• Certification must be achieved within one year of hire; eligible for certification by recognized certifying agencies.

Responsibilities

• Maintains technical competency related to job functions.
• Understands LIS functions and performs downtime procedures effectively.
• Evaluates procedures and selects appropriate investigative techniques.
• Identifies and resolves problems that may affect test results and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Determines specimen acceptability by visual inspection and recognises abnormal results.
• Documents unacceptable specimens and communicates specimen requirements.
• Assesses job functions and takes action when problems are detected.
• Communicates with coworkers and customers when delays occur.
• Uses complex problem-solving skills to resolve clinical and instrument issues.
