Baptist Health Clinical Lab in Lexington, KY is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist for various shifts. The role offers a $15,000 sign-on bonus for qualified individuals and the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technology and a skilled team in a patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities include maintaining technical competency, understanding LIS functions, evaluating procedures, ensuring specimen quality, troubleshooting, and documenting results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science; certification must be achieved within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Understands pertinent LIS functions and performs downtime procedures effectively.
• Evaluates each procedure performed and chooses appropriate investigative techniques as indicated.
• Identifies and resolves problems that may adversely affect test results and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/unusual results.
• Documents unacceptable specimens according to policy.
• Communicates specimen requirements to appropriate personnel.
• Assesses job functions and takes appropriate action when problems are detected.
• Identifies problems with specimens, test orders, registration and takes appropriate action.
• Handles troubleshooting professionally and communicates with coworkers and customers when delays occur.
• Expected to utilize complex problem‑solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems.
