Baptist Health System, Inc. in Lexington, KY is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Clinical Lab and Pathology team. Various shifts available, with a $15,000 sign-on bonus for qualified individuals.

You will work in a state-of-the-art lab delivering fast, accurate test results in a patient-centered environment. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and certification or eligibility, with certification within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science.
• Certification must be achieved within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains technical competency as related to the job functions.
• Understands pertinent LIS functions and performs downtime procedures effectively.
• Evaluates each procedure performed and chooses appropriate investigative techniques as indicated.
• Identifies and resolves problems that may adversely affect test results and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/unusual results.
• Documents unacceptable specimens according to policy. Communicates specimen requirements to appropriate personnel.
• Assesses job functions and takes appropriate action when problems are detected.
• Identifies problems with specimens, test orders, registration and takes appropriate action.
• Handles troubleshooting professionally and communicates with coworkers and customers when delays occur.
• Expected to utilize complex problem-solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems.
