UPMC Chautauqua is seeking a full-time Medical Lab Scientist to join our laboratory team in Jamestown, NY. You will perform a range of tests, provide timely and accurate results, and contribute to patient care within a collaborative lab environment.

The role offers opportunity to teach and mentor new staff and advances in your career. The position requires working every other weekend with a holiday rotation.

In this role, there is the opportunity to -

• Follow protocols for specimen collection, including phlebotomy, processing, and ensuring sample stability.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures with precision, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Recognize critical, abnormal, and unacceptable test results, following up according to established protocols.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, performing quality control checks, maintenance, and minor repairs.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of testing techniques, instruments, and factors affecting test results.
• Train and orient new employees, students, and residents, ensuring proper understanding of laboratory procedures.
• Interact with laboratory customers courteously and professionally, responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
• Adhere to established laboratory and hospital policies regarding procedures, quality control, safety, and compliance.
