Job Details

• Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist
• Job Location: Irving, TX 75063
• Pay Rate Range: $38 / hr. to $40 / hr. on W2 (offer rate based on years of experience)
• Duration: 6+ months (Temporary assignment, potential for full-time hire)
• Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 10 am - 6:30 pm (Central Time)
• Hours: 40 hours/week

Summary

This position is responsible for performing clinical laboratory testing, following all applicable policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

1. Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, testing, reporting, and record-keeping.
2. Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing is performed correctly.
3. Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures (see SOPs).
4. Review and release test results.
5. Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
6. Maintain quality control records, calibrations, and maintenance logs.
7. Follow policies when test systems do not perform within acceptable levels.
8. Identify and correct issues affecting test performance or notify supervisors.
9. Document corrective actions when performance deviates.
10. Report STAT or Critical results to clients following procedures.
11. Respond to questions from customers or lab personnel as applicable.
12. Maintain comprehensive records of all testing performed on-site.
13. Maintain the general appearance of the department.

Qualifications

Knowledge: Solid understanding of basic laboratory testing, good computer skills, and familiarity with QC and QA processes across laboratory areas.

Experience: At least 1 year of clinical experience with high complexity testing preferred; minimum of 1 year in highly complex testing for candidates with BS/Ba in Chemistry or Biology.

Education: BS in Medical Technology preferred, or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or an Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology. Candidates educated abroad must provide credential evaluation from IERF; U.S.-educated candidates must provide original transcripts. Certification as MT/MLT from ASCP or AMT is preferred or required.
