Job summary

CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to analyze lab tests and report results in line with procedures and regulatory guidelines. You will contribute to accurate diagnoses and patient care in a busy hospital laboratory.

Responsibilities include performing a range of tests, maintaining automated equipment, and participating in proficiency testing. A Bachelor’s degree and clinical lab training are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Science or Medical Technology or related field.
• Appropriate clinical lab science training is required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze lab tests to determine patient conditions according to procedures and guidelines.
• Report waived, moderately and highly complex tests with accuracy.
• Provide excellent patient care throughout the laboratory process within turnaround times.
• Assist in upkeep and maintenance of major automated equipment.
• Participate in proficiency testing and continued education or training.
• Complete all work and escalate issues as needed.
• Adhere to all regulatory requirements.

Education

What You’ll Do

• Appropriately perform and report waived a variety of moderately and highly complex test procedures
• Provide excellent patient care throughout the laboratory process within established turnaround times
• Assist in upkeep and maintenance of major automated equipment
• Perform proficiency testing as assigned, participating in opportunities for continued education or training
• Complete all work and resolve or elevate issues as needed
• Adhere to all regulatory requirements
• Other duties as assigned
