Job summary

HCA HealthONE Aurora is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform high-quality testing across neonate to geriatric patients in a busy hospital laboratory. The MT ensures accuracy, safety and compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, AABB, FDA and CLIA standards.

Required licensure or registration within six months (ASCP preferred); education can be a Bachelors or Associate degree in a lab science. Hospital lab experience is desirable but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Licensure/Certification/Registration required within six months of hire (ASCP preferred).
• Education: bachelor’s degree in a relevant lab science OR associate’s degree in a laboratory science from an accredited institution.
• Hospital laboratory experience desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical quality testing for neonates to geriatric patients in clinical labs.
• Ensure compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, AABB, FDA, CLIA standards.
• Support MT practice and participate in ongoing education and assigned duties.

Job Summary and Qualifications

This position supports the mission of HCA HealthONE Aurora and also provides service at Centennial Medical Plaza and Saddle Rock ER. The focus of this position is optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The Medical Technologist (MT) provides technical quality testing for neonates, pediatrics, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in the laboratory setting in compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, AABB, FDA, and CLIA Standards. The MT functions within the philosophy, policies and procedures at all of HealthONE Aurora campuses and represents the hospital within and outside the organization. A thorough understanding and application of the MT practice is essential due to the intense field of critical patient testing. Therefore, the laboratory employees must continuously strive to improve clinical testing through formal and informal education. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What qualifications you will need:

Licensure/Certification/Registration: ASCP, HEW, AMT or equivalent required within six (6) months of hire. ASCP is the preferred certification. Continued employment will be based on valid certification.

Education: Requires either 1) a bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; or 2) an associate’s degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.

Experience: Experience in a hospital laboratory is desired but not necessary.
