Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant for a part-time position (32 hours per week) with day/evening rotation based in Brainerd, MN. The MLA will collect specimens, perform processing and waived lab testing, and support pre- and post-analytical lab functions while ensuring patient safety and quality.

The role requires graduation from a Medical Laboratory Assistant program or completion of an internal MLA training program within 1 year, with phlebotomy experience and ASCP

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Medical Laboratory Assistant program or complete internal MLA training within 1 year.
• Preferred ASCP certification and phlebotomy experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens via venipuncture or capillary puncture.
• Perform specimen processing and follow testing requirements.
• Conduct waived lab testing per accreditation/licensure standards.
• Support pre-analytical and post-analytical functions in the lab.
• Train new employees and students as appropriate.
