Job summary

Baptist Nassau is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant II to join the Laboratory department on a PRN basis. The role supports Anatomic Pathology procedures during bronchoscopies, EBUS, needle aspirates, and related AP tasks, and also performs outpatient phlebotomy.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy in an outpatient setting, using the computer system to process specimens, routing specimens via the pneumatic tube, distributing specimens, and coordinating referrals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associates degree preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Specimen processing experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy in outpatient lab.
• Use computer system to process specimens.
• Retrieve specimens from pneumatic tube and process.

Baptist Health is currently looking for a Medical Laboratory Assistant II to join our Laboratory department at Baptist Nassau. This is a PRN shift.

This candidate needs to have great customer service skills and be detail oriented and organized. This position requires the candidate to work onsite with the Medical Director, assisting in Anatomic Pathology of specimens for Bronchoscopies, EBUS, Needle Aspirates, and other related AP process procedures in addition to performing and supporting Outpatient phlebotomy.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant II, you will be responsible for:

• Performing the duties of a phlebotomist in an outpatient laboratory setting.
• Utilizing computer system in the processing of laboratory specimens.
• Retrieving specimens from pneumatic tube system and processes specimens according to specimen type.
• Distributing specimens to different areas of the laboratory.
• Coordinating specimen pick-ups for referral testing.
• Preparing specimen transfer lists and packages specimens in accordance with laboratory policy for transport.

Education and Certification Requirement:

High School Diploma Required

Associates Degree Preferred

Phlebotomy Certification Preferred

Experience Requirements:

Specimen Processing Preferred
