Position: Medical Lab Assistant 1

In the Laboratory Department, you will work with a diverse team of healthcare professionals dedicated to our mission: “To provide exceptional care, without exception, every patient, every time.” Valleywise Medical Center is a Level One Trauma Center that opened in 2024. You will support pre-analytical laboratory tasks, point of care testing, and phlebotomy as assigned.

Hourly Pay Rate: $22.80

This is a POOL position.

Qualifications
  1. Education: High School Diploma or GED certificate
  2. Certification/Licensure: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card. Fingerprint clearance cards must remain valid for the entire period of issuance and must be renewed before expiration.
  3. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to effectively read, write, and speak in English, including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
    • Excellent time management and customer service skills.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Creative, analytical, and independent thinking.
    • Approachable, open to feedback, and flexible to change.
    • Support and maintain policies and processes.
    • High degree of professionalism and enthusiasm, with the knowledge and skill necessary to perform laboratory assisting and venipuncture techniques.
