Job Responsibilities

• Specimen Handling & Workflow: Manage specimen processing, assist with laboratory procedures, perform CLIA "Waived" and/or "Moderately Complex" testing, and support clerical duties following established guidelines.
• Blood Bank & Donor Services: Determine blood donor eligibility, perform related testing, evaluate medical histories, assist physicians, recruit donors, and maintain donor confidentiality. Participate in blood bank operations, separate blood components, and support transfusion procedures.
• Testing & Specimen Management: Perform noncomplex and directed testing as per SOPs, organize and prioritize specimens, ensure proper identification, process specimens (centrifuging, aliquoting), and maintain sample integrity.
• Quality & Maintenance: Ensure quality in all tasks, perform quality control, maintain instruments, and keep accurate records. Assist in laboratory area and equipment maintenance.
• Compliance & Safety: Adapt to changes, adhere to policies, and follow safety and infection control standards.
• Teamwork & Customer Service: Plan and prioritize duties efficiently, maintain inventory, act as liaison with clients and physicians, and uphold professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Louisiana License: CLS-Laboratory Assistant
