The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Medical Laboratory Assistant is responsible for performing clinical laboratory specimen processing and providing clerical and technical support to the laboratory staff.

This position has two levels designed to provide progressively more responsible and independent work experiences. Progression between job levels is based on demonstrated ability to handle more responsibilities.

Qualifications:

SCF programs serve a primary population of Alaska Native people affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI), and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF’s geographical area. Understanding the cultures and needs of this population is critical to achieving SCF’s vision of a Native Community that enjoys physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness, and the mission of working together with the Native Community to achieve wellness through health and related services.

• National certification as a Phlebotomist or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• One year of healthcare experience or demonstrated proficiency as an Administrative Support II at SCF.

Additional Qualifications for Laboratory Assistant II:

• Two years of experience performing Laboratory Assistant duties or demonstrated proficiency as a Laboratory Assistant I at SCF.
• National certification as a Phlebotomist.

Employee Health Requirements:

Compliance with SCF’s Employee Health Procedure is mandatory. All job-related health screenings and immunizations must be completed prior to employment, including MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Influenza, T-dap, and COVID-19 vaccinations.

Native Preference:

SCF pursues a policy of Native preference in hiring, contracting, and training, in accordance with P.L. 93-638, as amended. Certification must be received before applicants receive preference.
