Title: Lab Assistant
Location: Calabasas Hills , CA USA 91301
Schedule: 3rd Shift
Pay Range: $ 16 to 18/hr
Shift : 10 pm-630 am (Tuesday through Saturday 10 pm- 6:30 am)
Contract : 3 Months
Job Description:
Perform the daily activities as described below. Basic Purpose: Perform various routine laboratory functions in a precise and accurate fashion to assist the laboratory professional staff and to facilitate production.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Essential Job Duties:
• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.
• Sort specimens into their appropriate department or hamilton pipetting.
• Assists with loading and unloading of specimens on the Hamilton pipetting platform including capping and uncapping samples, labeling aliquot tubes, pulling errors, and sorting aliquots.
• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
• Returns specimens to appropriate locations.
• Performs discard and relocation of specimen racks.
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Adhere to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies.
• Documents all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job-related duties requested by department management.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to lift up to 15lbs. Flexibility to work overtime as needed. Strong communication skills; both written and verbal. Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Must pass a standardized blindness test.
Required Work Experience: Previous medical/lab or production experience is . Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills .
Working Conditions: This is a fast-paced production environment that has established turn-around times. Employee will be handling biological specimens with a potential of being exposed to blood borne pathogens.
