Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Independently perform laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency. Conduct laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, executing, interpreting, and analyzing results in an accurate and timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent, plus sufficient college and/or technical courses and clinical training to meet testing and certification requirements as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency.
• Minimum Experience: None beyond education/training requirements.
• Licensure/Certification: Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by ASCP, AMT, or AAB, according to Georgia Department of Community Health regulations. Recent movers to Georgia or those who recently completed training may be temporarily classified for up to 18 months to complete a qualifying examination. AAB provisional certification is not accepted.
• Additional Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or related biological sciences preferred. One year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist is preferred. Proficiency in areas such as chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank, microbiology is preferred.
