Job summary

St. Catherine of Siena Hospital, part of Catholic Health, is seeking a full-time Medical Lab Technologist to join our team on Long Island.

The role emphasizes quality control, instrumentation calibration, and accurate test result interpretation for diverse patient populations. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, NYS licensure, and hospital experience; weekend/holiday work is scheduled.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science from an accredited school.
• Licensed under the NYS Dept of Education as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Knowledge of hematology, chemistry, blood bank, and/or microbiology.
• Hospital experience preferred.
• Must work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
• Good oral and written communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Establishes/monitors the department's quality control policies and ensures documentation of all quality control activities, instrument, and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
• Correlates laboratory methods, procedures, and patient test results with age-specific population criteria and demonstrates appropriate understanding of the needs of patients and visitors for each specific age group.
• Establishes and implements service priorities, workflow patterns; monitors workflow to assure prompt and efficient delivery of services.
• Demonstrates the ability to evaluate departmental performance and recommends measures to improve services and quality of current methodologies.
