Job Summary

Performs diagnostic testing following standardized procedures on patient samples, aiding physicians in diagnosing and monitoring various diseases. Resolves problems and interprets results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.

Essential Functions
  • Processes specimens and performs testing with minimal guidance, evaluating test results.
  • Ensures timely turnaround for test results.
  • Recognizes abnormal or unusual results and determines necessary actions.
  • Performs quality control procedures, records results, and implements corrective actions.
  • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment.
  • Documents and communicates technical information appropriately.
  • Ensures availability of supplies and reagents.
  • Assists in researching and evaluating new methods, procedures, or equipment.
  • Participates in special projects and assists in writing procedures.
  • Trains personnel on policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Communicates effectively with hospital staff, patients, and family members to ensure high-quality care.
  • Adheres to safety, confidentiality, and organizational standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field, or equivalent military/education meeting certification requirements.
  • Experience: Internship or comparable experience as a medical technologist.
  • Licensure/Certification: Registered or registry-eligible Medical Technologist through a recognized organization such as ASCP or NCA.
