Job summary

The Health Care Administrators Association® (HCAA) seeks a Medical Lab Technician or Scientist to perform accurate laboratory testing, troubleshoot complex problems, and ensure compliance with CLIA, JCAHO, CAP, and OSHA standards.

You will assist with specimen collection, processing, and maintaining specimen integrity, provide training, and contribute to departmental improvements and education for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science/tech or related sciences.
• MLS or categorical certification or completion of an MLS program.
• Competency in phlebotomy and knowledge of lab procedures and terminology.
• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to assume leadership in absence of supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Perform tests with precision, including startup, calibration, and instrument maintenance.
• Monitor validity of patient and QC results, participating in QA and process improvements.
• Manage inventory and contribute to financial performance improvements.
• Provide training, mentorship, and participate in departmental projects and committees.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Perform specimen collection, processing, and referral procedures as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• MLS/MT or categorical certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB).
• Experience with specimen processing, phlebotomy, and specialized disciplines.
• Additional relevant education or experience is advantageous.
