Job summary

Mount Carmel, a Trinity Health system in Ohio, seeks a Medical Lab Tech/MLS for two 12-hour night shifts per week between Mount Carmel New Albany and Dublin. Part-time position with sign-on bonus up to $5,000.

The role performs phlebotomy and laboratory testing, ensures rapid, accurate results, and maintains quality control. Requires MLS education and ASCP eligibility, with at least one year of lab experience and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Certification from ASCP or equivalent; eligible for certification.
• Must maintain active certification if applicable.
• Previous blood bank experience.
• Generalist laboratory experience.
• Minimum 1 year of lab experience.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs all clinical testing in assigned department.
• Records and reports test results accurately and promptly.
• Performs and interprets quality control testing following established guidelines.
• Maintains a high level of quality assurance.
• Practices established safety procedures, including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment.
• Recognizes problems and makes necessary corrections following prescribed strategies.
• Consults with supervisor/manager when decisions are unclear; acts to determine final decision in absence.
• Coordinates and evaluates new reagents, procedures and equipment as requested.
• Performs routine scheduled and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Position Purpose

The Medical Technologist performs phlebotomy and laboratory testing. Has knowledge of the clinical significance of results, monitors and understands operation of instrumentation, and reports results accurately and rapidly.

• This position will work two, 12 hour night shift position a week one at Mount Carmel New Albany and one at Dublin.

What You’ll Do

• Performs all clinical testing in assigned department.
• Records and reports test results accurately and promptly.
• Performs and interprets quality control testing following established guidelines.
• Maintains a high level of quality assurance.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
• Licensure / Certification: Certification from American Society of Clinical Pathologists, equivalent; eligible for certification.
• If applicable, must maintain active certification.
