Job summary

CentraCare Health in Monticello, MN, seeks a Medical Lab Technician or Medical Lab Scientist to perform clinical laboratory procedures across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and related areas. You will rotate benches and monitor quality, operating instrumentation with appropriate independence.

The full-time role (64 hours biweekly) requires ASCP-BOC certification within six months and a BLS card, with a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technology (CLT/MLT) or equivalent.
• ASCP-BOC certification within 6 months of hire, with initial exam within 3 months.
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory procedures across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and related areas.
• Monitor quality control and proficiency testing to maintain accuracy.
• Operate, maintain, and validate laboratory instrumentation and records.
• Rotates through benches including Microbiology, Blood Bank, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Molecular.
• Assist in special projects and implementation of new methodologies.

Performs laboratory tests according to current standards of federal, state, and local regulations and District policies and procures. (CLT-Clinical Lab Technician, MLT-Medical Lab Technician; CLA-Clinical Lab Assistant)

What you willdo:

• Perform clinical laboratory procedures in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunohematology, immunology, and other areas of the clinicallaboratory.
• Monitor quality to maintain high performance.
• Useestablished and approved protocol that require a broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision.
• Responsible for operating,maintaining,and validating instrumentation/equipment and records.
• Troubleshooting of equipment, instruments, and procedures
• Recognized factors affecting measurement and takes appropriate action.
• Monitor quality control, proficiency testing and quality assurance activities related to test performance.
• Determine results that are abnormal or deviated from expected.
• Rotates through various benches/areas of the lab to include Microbiology, Blood Bank, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, molecular, and phlebotomy responsibilities.
• Involved in special projects, evaluations, and implementation of new methodologies in the laboratory.
• Supportand implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate.
• Demonstratecustomer service principles when interacting with patients and their families and with co-workers.

Schedule:

• Full-time | 64 hours every two weeks | Onsite
• Days | 8-hour shifts | Monday-Friday Days with start times between 5am-10am
• Every 3rd weekend with start times of 5am or 8am. Rotating Holidays.

Pay and Benefits

  • Starting pay begins at $27.67 per hour and increases with experience
    • Pay range: $27.67 - $39.59 per hour
• MLS
  • Starting pay begins at $32.57 per hour and increases with experience
    • Pay range: $32.57 - $48.09 per hour

• MLT
  • Associate degree from an accredited Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technician (CLT / MLT) program New Graduate’s degree must be validated within 2 months post-graduation.
  • ASCP-BOC certified within 6 months, with the first exam completed within 3 months of hire, with certification verified within six weeks of exam
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required
• MLS
  • Bachelor’s degree with necessary science/math credits as required and verified by the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC). New graduate’s degree must be validated within 2 months post-graduation
  • ASCP-BOC certified within 6 months, with the first exam completed within 3 months of hire, with certification verified within six weeks of exam
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required
