Medical Lab Technician/Medical Technologist (30 minutes from Utica)
  • Full-time

Position: Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Technician

A Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs clinical laboratory procedures and examinations requiring limited independent judgment, under the supervision of a clinical laboratory technologist, supervisor, or director. Under the guidance of a Technical Specialist or charge technologist, the MLT provides prompt and accurate test results and/or prepares products for transfusion, following established protocols that require some independent judgment and interpretation. The MLT may also be responsible for training other laboratory personnel and students.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited program (preferred), or in Biology or Chemistry. Military training programs in these fields may be accepted by the NYS Education Department as equivalent.
  • Medical Technologists are encouraged to apply.
  • Must be qualified as a Medical Technician according to NYS Department of Health regulations.
  • Experience in standard laboratory methodologies required; previous clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Licensure/Certificates:

  • Licensure by NYS SED as a Clinical Laboratory Technician is required, or candidates must be eligible for licensure with a limited permit or license.
