DEPT: Laboratory

LOCATION: Maury Regional Medical Center - Columbia, TN

SHIFT: Weekend Plan. Friday - Sunday, 6:30pm - 7am

JOB SUMMARY:

Medical Laboratory Technicians are responsible for performing tests and reporting results for use in the diagnosis, treatment and/or monitoring treatment of diseases. Individual performs tasks, duties and/or complex tests in all areas of the laboratory assigned (hematology, bacteriology, chemistry, blood bank) according to established laboratory protocols and procedures. Medical Laboratory Technicians operate equipment or instruments necessary to perform high volume, less difficult analytical tests. Recognizing instrument malfunction and making simple corrections using preset strategies or notifying a supervisor. Individuals are responsible for performing and recording all quality control procedures required for tests assayed as well as recognizing abnormal or unusual test results and following departmental policy for reporting critical values.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

* Licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technician by Tennessee Medical Laboratory Board Preferred

* Successful Completion of a Medical Laboratory Technician Associate Degree Program or Equivalent Preferred

* 1 Year of Related Experience Preferred
