Osage Nation in Pawhuska, OK, seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to organize and perform diagnostic testing in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis and serology.

You will maintain quality standards and report test results accurately, while handling specimen collection, labeling, storage and transport in compliance with CLIA and HIPAA.

Qualified candidates will have an accredited MLT program degree and certification eligibility within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology/MLT from an accredited program.
  • Current MLT certification by ASCP or AMT, or eligible with certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Hands-on phlebotomy and specimen collection for adult and pediatric patients.
  • Experience with labeling, order verification, collection requirements, handling and transport.
  • Knowledge of QA, proficiency testing, safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Job Details: Job Location: Pawhuska - PAWHUSKA, OK 74056, Position Type: Regular Full-Time, Travel Percentage: None, Job Shift: Days, Job Category: Health Care, The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsibility for organizing and providing diagnostic testing in the areas of chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and serology. Maintain quality standards and accurately report test results.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology/Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from an appropriately accredited MLT program.
  • Current MLT certification by American Society Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) Board of Certification or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or certification-eligible with certification required 90 days of hire.
  • Previous hands-on phlebotomy and patient specimen-collection experience is required. The applicant must be able to independently and competently perform venipuncture and capillary collections on adult and pediatric patients.
  • Experience with proper patient identification, specimen labeling, order verification, collection requirements, specimen handling, processing, centrifugation, storage, transport, and identification of unacceptable specimens.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in quality control, quality assurance, proficiency testing, laboratory safety, documentation, instrument operation and maintenance, and regulatory compliance
General Qualifications
  • Requires ability to read and understand federal regulations (CLIA), Osage Nation policies and procedures, and state and accrediting agencies requirements and standards.
  • Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and Privacy Act.
  • Must have thorough professional knowledge of standard medical technology concepts & principles.
  • Must be willing and able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have good visual acuity to perform microscopic examinations.
  • Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance that positively represents the Nation.
  • Basic Life Support certified or within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record– may be required to drive GSA or Nation vehicles
