Job summary

TridentCare is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technologist for the 3rd shift (overnight) in Denver. Under supervision, you will perform routine, moderate, and complex tests in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis and Coagulation, ensuring quality control and instrument calibration.

You will input data, review results, and report patient findings while maintaining safety and compliance. Candidate should have an Associate degree with MLT certification and at least 1 year of chemistry/hematology

Qualifications

• Associates degree with MLT certification required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in chemistry/hematology preferred.
• Familiar with automated instrumentation operation.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Performs lab testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis and Coagulation.
• Checks QC of each test before reporting patient results.
• Enters test results and edits results as needed.
• Confirms abnormal results and informs supervisor when necessary.
• Maintains specimen management, logs requisitions and inventories.
• Troubleshoots instrument, computer, or client issues as needed.
• Maintains QC records and records quality control data.
• Performs maintenance on analyzers and ensures compliance with safety procedures.

Description

Shift: Full Time- 3rd shift overnight
Pay Range: $30.00-$45.00/hr. Based on experience

ROLE:
Under supervision of Supervisor or Senior Technologist performs routine, moderate and complex laboratory tests. Also responsible for monitoring quality of reagents and working condition of instruments.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs lab testing in the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis and Coagulation.
• Checks the quality control of each test prior to running and reporting patient results.
• Calls work lists on the computer, does editing of results and data enters test results.
• Confirms abnormal results prior to releasing and bring any “rare and improbable” test results to the attention of a supervisor.
• Processes specimens and logs requisitions as needed.
• Reviews daily specimen management reports.
• Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and ensures compliance with state requirements for documentation of lot numbers with quality control and specimen records.
• Troubleshoots problems (client, instrument, computer) as needed.
• Performs maintenance on the automated Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation and Urinalysis instrumentation as needed.
• Records the quality control and maintains the QC records on all assays performed.
• Data enters results into the computer.
• Ensures that QC is within appropriate limits and brings problems to supervisor.
• Reviews work lists and work from automated analyzers to ensure accuracy and timely reporting of patient results.
• Performs differentials and urine sediments as needed.
• Performs other tasks and procedures that are commensurate with education, training and abilities.
• Responsible for all clerical functions associated with specimen integrity, testing, identification and reporting of department testing.
• Follows all safety protocols as outlined in safety manual.
• Identifies and pursues self improvement needs
• Seeks coaching/mentoring when appropriate
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, and procedures including, but not limited to, those within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct, and Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA).
• Participates in required orientation, Compliance and HIPAA training programs.
• Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.
• Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Associates degree with MLT certification required.
• Minimum of 1 (one) year experience in chemistry/hematology preferred.
• Must be familiar with all phases of the operation of the automated instrumentation utilized for routine analysis.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
