The University of Kansas Health System – Great Bend Hospital is seeking a Medical Lab Technical Specialist to oversee comprehensive laboratory testing and ensure accurate, timely results. You will act as the technical expert in your area, support QA activities, and mentor staff while maintaining regulatory compliance and safety standards.

The role requires an ASCP MLT certification within 180 days, an associate degree (bachelor’s preferred), and 2+ years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a NCCLS approved training program.
• Associates degree required; Bachelor degree preferred.
• 2+ years of related experience.

Responsabilités

• Serves as subject matter expert for the assigned area and assists staff.
• Analyzes patient, control and proficiency testing specimens and records results promptly.
• Coordinates quality assurance and quality improvement activities for the department.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory and safety standards and hospital policies.
• Instructs, orients and mentors students, employees and residents as applicable.
• Performs calibration, maintenance and quality control for instruments and maintains documentation.
• Maintains inventory and prepares reagents, standards and specimens for analysis.
• Performs phlebotomy and sample collection as needed to support efficiency.
• Reviews results and initiates corrective actions when indicated.
• Uses PPE to minimize risk and work safely.
