Intermountain Health is seeking a Technical Specialist MLS to support advanced technical functions in the laboratory. You will assist in validations, QC, instrument maintenance, and regulatory compliance while aiding in staff training and competency assessment.

Qualified candidates hold a MLS certification and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with at least two years of clinical lab experience and flexibility for varied shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology from an accredited institution.
• Medical Laboratory Scientist certification or equivalent as approved by Manager and HR.
• Two years of clinical laboratory experience for an MLS.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends, holidays, nights, and on-call.
• Montana state licensure required for MT applicants; foreign transcript evaluation required for foreign applicants.

Responsibilities

• Participate in external proficiency surveys; review PT results and troubleshoot.
• Lead inventory control and assist in validations, QC lot-to-lot, lookbacks and MPE investigations.
• Assist with instrument evaluation, implementation, and regulatory compliance activities.
• Lead or participate in system work groups; support standardization initiatives and training/competency assessments.

Job Description:The Technical Specialist MLS is an experienced Registered MLS who assists the Supervisor, Manager, or Coordinator with advanced technical functions within the department they are supporting. These caregivers operate at an advanced level, overseeing quality control, advanced instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and implementation, ensuring department regulatory compliance. Required.Two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience for an MLS. Required.Flexibility to work a variety of shifts that may include weekends, holidays, nights, and on-call. Required.Montana applicant must have State Licensure to work in the State of MT. Required.Foreign applicants must submit a foreign transcript evaluation by an acceptable agency approved by Laboratory Quality Assurance. Preferred.Physical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
