Job summary

Carle Health is seeking Medical Laboratory Scientists to perform and evaluate complex chemical, biological, and microscopic analyses in a Magnet-designated hospital. You will collaborate with caregivers to provide critical patient information and contribute to professional growth through a career ladder and committees.

Applicants should have MLS/MT certifications within 1 year (AMT/ASCP) and degrees in Clinical Laboratory Science or related fields, with clinical lab experience.

Qualifications

• MLS/MT certifications within 1 year of eligibility (AMT/ASCP).
• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Science or Medical Technology.
• Clinical laboratory experience and state licensure where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing in the clinical laboratory for diagnosis and treatment using standard techniques and equipment.
• Label/store specimens and prepare specimens with manual and automatic equipment.
• Perform testing accurately within established time periods including stat testing.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment according to protocols.
• Maintain laboratory supply inventory and ordering procedures.
• Conduct quality control and quality assurance to comply with regulations.
• Communicate results and information with internal and external customers.
• Troubleshoot issues or seek assistance as needed; participate in proficiency testing.
• Develop educational materials and share knowledge with staff and students.
• Assist with policy revisions and continuing education to maintain certifications.
