Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Laboratory Support Clerk to receive and accession specimens, manage incoming calls, and assist with general lab supply management. You will work closely with Medical Laboratory Scientists to ensure accurate data entry and timely reporting.

The ideal candidate has a HS diploma or equivalent and strong communication and basic computer skills. Experience is not required, and teamwork in a fast-paced setting is valued.

Responsibilities

• Understand and follow performance standards and policies.
• Handle telephone inquiries and transfer as needed.
• Receive, accession and process specimens to ensure timely reporting.
• Register in HIS as needed.
• Process reference lab testing as needed.
• Troubleshoot specimen-related problems independently.
• Assist with inventory and supply management for internal and external customers.
• Maintain laboratory hardware and equipment.
• Utilize laboratory and hospital systems for accurate data entry and retrieval.
• Perform other duties as needed.
