Job summary

St. Luke's Health System is seeking a Senior Medical Lab Scientist to perform routine tests in clinical laboratories for treatment and diagnosis. The role includes mentoring team members and handling specimens with strict adherence to procedures and regulatory requirements.

The position requires a Bachelor of Science, 4 years of experience, and relevant ASCP/AMT certifications. A safe, well-organized work environment and ongoing training are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree is required.
• 4 years' experience in a clinical lab setting is required.
• Must have one of the listed certifications (ASCP/AMT) in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Cytogenetics, Hematology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, MLS, or MT.

Responsibilities

• Test specimens in an accurate, organized and prioritized manner following laboratory procedures and policies.
• Collect a variety of specimens as required by section needs with skill and sensitivity to patient needs.
• Ensure specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled and stored.
• Perform instrument maintenance according to section procedures.
• Provide mentorship and training to others.
• Maintain inventory of supplies.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
• Follow department policy maintaining all necessary records and documentation.
• Ensure input is accurate and complete.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

A degree of creativity and latitude is required. Acts as a mentor/trainer/preceptor to all members of team.
