Job summary

Piedmont Macon North in Georgia is seeking a part-time medical laboratory technologist for 20 hours per week, with variable days including weekends and holidays. The role involves independently performing laboratory procedures and testing patients of all ages with accuracy and timeliness.

Requirements include an HS diploma (GED) plus college/technical training; a bachelor's in clinical laboratory science is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED plus college/technical courses and clinical training required for testing/certification
• Bachelor's degree preferred in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or life sciences
• No experience required; 1 year supervised clinical experience preferred
• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist per Georgia regulations; other provisional criteria described

Responsibilities

• Independently performs laboratory procedures for which trained and competent, and tests patients of all ages accurately and timely
• Executes, interprets and analyzes laboratory results in accordance with professional standards

Qualifications:Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency Required
• Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required Required
• 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. Upon Hire Required or
• A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologists or technicians for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
• AAB provisional certification not accepted
