The University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist or Technician for its Downtown Campus. This role involves performing complex laboratory tests and providing technical expertise in a collaborative environment. The University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown (located at 500 E. Market Street, Iowa City, IA) Pathology Department is looking to hire for one position at either the Medical Lab Scientist, Pay Grade 6, or Medical Lab Technician, Pay Grade 4, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. We are seeking skilled, forward-thinking, and detail-oriented laboratory professionals to join our team. As part of the Downtown Campus Pathology team, you will work in a collaborative, high-impact environment, contributing to cutting-edge research, medical education, and the future of laboratory medicine. These procedures will utilize a variety of procedures, many involving numerous highly complex tests and techniques that require the use of professional judgment. Provides technical expertise and information used to diagnose, prevent, or treat disease.
This position will assist University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown location. This is located at 500 E. Market Street, Iowa City, IA. This is a 194-bed hospital that became part of Iowa’s only comprehensive academic health system on Jan. 31, 2024.
May perform all levels of testing complexity and analysis on biological specimens to provide information used in the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of disease. Utilize a variety of procedures that may involve numerous detailed tests and techniques that require the use of professional judgment.
Hours: Monday through Friday 11pm - 7:30 am, rotating holidays
Supervision is received from Medical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor, Assistant Laboratory Manager, Laboratory Manager, Laboratory Director, or other designated official.
Functional supervision may be exercised over support staff and students.
