Job summary

Ardent Health Services is seeking a day shift, full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist in Topeka, KS. The MLS will perform routine and specialized clinical laboratory testing with accountability for patient care and diagnosis.

Responsibilities include quality control, maintenance, inventory, and participation in QA initiatives, education, and proficiency testing. Candidates should hold a ASCP or equivalent and have microbiology experience.

Qualifications

• BS/AS degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science or a chemical/physical/biological science.
• ASCP or equivalent certification; maintained without lapse during employment.
• Prior clinical laboratory experience in a Medical Laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, and equipment maintenance.
• Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and proficiency testing as assigned.
• Provide laboratory education and training to new employees as needed.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.
• This position performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Will additionally participates in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing when assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Baccalaureate or Assocaites Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical or biological science.
• ASCP or equivalent.
  • Certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifies.
  • Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
    • If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.
