- UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 502 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians, and a full complement of subspecialty groups.
Responsibilities
- The Medical Lab Scientist functions as a professional responsible for performing clinical laboratory testing related to patient care and diagnosis.
- This position performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
- Participates in quality assurance, performance improvement tasks, new employee training, and proficiency testing as assigned.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or an Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician Studies or a related chemical, physical, or biological science.
- Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.
- Certification such as ASCP or equivalent (e.g., M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP)) qualifies.
- Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory.
