Job summary

UCHealth University of Colorado Health seeks a Medical Technologist for the MHC Microbiology department at Memorial Hospital Central in Colorado Springs. This on-site, PRN role performs diagnostic testing, rapid molecular tests, culture reading and antimicrobial susceptibility reviews.

Shifts may be day or evening with rotating weekends and holidays. Requires a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology and MT/MLS certification with licensure if required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or equivalent.
• Certification as MT/MLS by AMT or ASCP (or ASCP) with licensure if required. Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Microbiology experience reading culture plates preferred.

Location: UCHealth UCHlth Memorial Hosp Central, US:CO:Colorado Springs

Department: MHC Microbiology

Work Schedule: PRN, 0.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Shift: May be day or evening shift with rotating weekends and holidays.

Pay: $33.82 - $50.73 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

Summary:
Performs laboratory testing of patient specimens in the MHC Microbiology Department, including specimen setups, rapid molecular testing, culture reading, bacterial identification, antimicrobial susceptibility review.

Responsibilities:

• Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens. Interprets, documents and reports test results.


• Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.


• Complies with good laboratory practice and regulatory requirements.


• Performs projects as assigned as well as serves as a resource to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.


• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist program.


• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society for ClinicalPathology (ASCP) or categorical ASCP certification in a laboratory specialty/sub-specialty as applicable to job responsibilities. State licensure if required by law. Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.


• Previous experience in Microbiology reading culture plates preferred.
